Following a teaser a couple of days ago which showed what clearly resembled the exterior of a set of earphones, OnePlus has taken the wraps off its latest product, and officially introduced v2 of its “Bullets” earphones.
While potentially being easily dismissible as a fairly simple and straightforward set of earbuds, the company has nonetheless packed some interesting tech in it…
Despite the likely low price, OnePlus decided not to sacrifice quality and go high-end in terms of materials. The new Bullets feature an aluminum coil wrapped in premium Japanese black copper, “to make for a more consistent listening experience”. In order to give them the proper tuning, the Chinese firm partnered with the German audio experts over at LOFO, who have “over 88 years of experience in diaphragm technology”.
“The Bullets are fitted an ARYPHAN polyarylate diaphragm, known for its light weight and high vibration frequency,” the product’s page says. “Carefree, comfortable, well-rounded reproduction ensures your music sounds just the way it was intended to. We’ve optimized the tri-band tuning process that produced last generation’s captivating sound, improving the range to deliver richer bass, more delicate treble, and a smoother midrange.”
At just 2 grams, weight will probably be a non-issue for most people; as will be comfort, eased by the various sized silicone ear tips included in the box. Oh, and of course the flat wire is making a comeback, too, much to the dismay of the wire-tangling wizard dwelling inside your pockets.
There’s also a much welcomed inline remote for all your calling and music-controlling needs, with the usual three-button placement hiding a microphone to “significantly improve” the quality of your calls. OnePlus also makes sure to remind everyone that before going into production, each pair needs to undergo “numerous rigorous quality tests”, including temperature resistance and plug durability.
Hopefully they will be as good as their product page — an official price is yet to be disclosed, but we wouldn’t expect it to be too far from the original Bullets’ $15. We will keep you updated as we learn more; in the meantime, you can enjoy the Bullets V2 introduction video down below.
