The latest update for Google’s dialer app introduces a brand new UI, available for download now

There’s going to be a lot of new UI designs on Google’s upcoming Pixel devices, and as developers sift through the leaked Pixel system images from earlier this week, we’re starting to get our hands on some of what it includes. Just the other day we got the official Pixel wallpaper, and now we’ve got a brand new version of Google’s dialer app (via Android Police).

One big change is the new incoming call screen. It brings a new action for answering your calls, and it looks quite similar to the incoming call screen from Google’s Duo video calling app. The caller ID image also fills the entire background of the app. To answer a call, simply swipe up, and to decline, drag down.

The entire app also has a new, darker blue color accent with a few other various changes throughout.

The only other big change in this update is support for launcher shortcuts. Currently, you can only use these through Action Launcher 3, but soon it will be available on Pixel phones and also on other Android devices starting in Android 7.1.

If you want to give this latest update a shot, it should work on most Android Marshmallow+ Nexus devices by sideloading the APK here.
