ZTE’s Axon 7 is one of those Android smartphones that proves without a doubt that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a fantastic device. Priced at $399, the Axon 7 brings top-tier specs, a great build, and an excellent overall experience. Now, ZTE is launching a limited edition variant of the Axon 7 that makes the phone even better…
Priced at $499, this new variant brings the same great build, albeit exclusively in gold. The phone packs the same Snapdragon 820 processor, but this new model ups the original’s 4GB of RAM to 6GB and the 64GB of storage to 128GB while still offering microSD card support to increase that.
Like the standard Axon 7, this new model has a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, a 3,250 mAh battery, USB-C, dual-front facing speakers, and a fingerprint sensor on the rear. The same built-in HiFi DAC is also included.
ZTE’s last big addition to this variant is a pressure sensitive display which adds Force Touch (shamelessly stealing the name from Apple), making it the first ZTE smartphone in the US with that functionality. ZTE says this will provide a “more intuitive user experience” although it doesn’t say how.
Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA said: “As ZTE continuously receives and listens to consumer feedback, we’re providing an option for those that love the Axon 7 to experience it on an optimized and enhanced level.”
The device is available now for purchase from ZTE’s website.
