Android Nougat is rolling out to the LG G5 on T-Mobile

Android Nougat’s rollout has been slow, but this month it’s finally picking up steam. Recently LG released its first device with Nougat, the LG V20, and now the company is bringing its earlier flagship, the LG G5, up to date.

Within the past week, we’ve heard that Sprint was updating the LG G5 to Nougat, and now T-Mobile users are getting the same update. The update weighs in at about 1.2GB and brings the November 1st Android Security patch.

T-Mobile has yet to officially release details on this update, but many users are reporting the update is hitting their devices. The update, of course, includes many built-in Android Nougat features such as Google’s native split-screen multi-tasking, updates to the settings menu, quick settings, and more. LG’s tweaks are also included, and the skin as a whole more closely resembles the UI found on the LG V20 rather than LG’s former UI that launched with the G5. Needless to say, that’s a good thing.

If you’re using an LG G5 on T-Mobile, you can check for this update through the settings menu and as mentioned, Sprint G5 users should also be able to download the update.

With this update, the LG G5 joins the small list of devices with Nougat available, including the V20, Mate 9, HTC 10, and of course the Pixel. Samsung is also preparing a Nougat update for the Galaxy S7, so over the next few weeks, we’ll likely see some big improvements to Nougat’s numbers in the Android market.
