Android Nougat has been creeping its way into a few carrier handsets in the last week, most recently just this morning with the Sprint HTC 10. Now, that trend continues with word (via Android Police) that the AT&T LG G5 is also getting updated to the latest version of Google’s mobile OS…
This update to plain ol’ Android 7.0 Nougat comes in just a bit bigger than the Sprint HTC 10 update, at 1.5GB in total size. Its build number is NRD90U, and it has the January 1st security patch. There aren’t many details about what this specific build brings, but it’s Nougat, so that tells us most of what we need to know.
Android 7.0 Nougat brings split-screen multitasking, an improved Doze mode, an overhauled notification system and Quick Settings menu, improved standby battery life, and dozens of little tweaks to enhance the experience system-wise.
As is usual with these kinds of updates, you might not be seeing it on your device yet even though other people are (namely “Heath” and “Tyson”, both tipsters for Android Police). But you should see the update at some point in the coming days. To check for it, make sure you’re connected to WiFi and head to the Settings app.
