At MWC 2017, Huawei has just announced the P10 and P10 Plus. A particular big focus of the two devices are design and the camera, with Huawei partnering with numerous companies in both areas.
Spending a great deal of time during their presentation on design, Huawei worked with the Pantone Color Institute to make sure the P10 line has “on-trend colours” for 2017. This results in a special Greenery and Dazzling Blue, as well as a more traditional Ceramic White, Dazzling Gold, Prestige Gold, Graphite Black, Rose Gold, and Mystic Silver.
Other notable design details include moving the new oblong fingerprint sensor to the front of the device — just under the screen — from the rear. The phones are 6.98 thick with matte surfaces thanks to a sandblast finish
Both the 5.1-inch 1080p P10 and 5.5-inch WQHD (2K) P10 Plus are powered by a Kirin 960 processor with Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.1. However, the smaller variant only has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 3,200mAh battery while the P10 Plus also has a 6GB, 128GB, and 3,750mAh model. Fortunately, both are expandable with MicroSD card storage.
The company’s previous Leica partnership continues with a dual rear camera and a front-facer. Huawei is touting facial detection and “studio-like lighting” with a 12-megapixel camera for colors and an 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The P10 only has f/2.2 aperture while the P10 Plus rocks a wider f/1.8.
Meanwhile, the front camera touts brighter, more dynamic images and an adaptive selfie that can tell how many people are in a picture in order to switch to a wider angle.
