Following the last upgrade at the start of October, Google has updated the Gemini 1.5 Pro model used by Gemini Advanced.
The 2024.10.31 changelog entry touts “data quality and various performance improvements” for Gemini Advanced subscribers. There are no other details.
That previous update to the Gemini 1.5 Pro-002 model made improvements across general, math, vision, and code benchmarks. It resulted in “better and more accurate responses for prompts related to math and exploring complex topics that invite thoughtful conversation.” Gemini 1.5 Pro was introduced to gemini.google.com at I/O 2024 in May with the long context window for document upload being the highlight, while the only other update since then was in mid-August.
In other developments, gemini.google.com (as seen above) has changed the prompt text for subscribers from “Ask Gemini Advanced” to just “Ask Gemini” for more consistent branding. Matching a change on mobile, you still have the Gemini Advanced logo in the top-left corner.
Google has yet to launch the immersive planner announced at I/O that lets you make complex plans and timelines for trips.
