Nothing rolling out stable Android 15 update to Nothing Phone (2) and (2a)

After launching in beta on select devices over the past few months, Nothing is now rolling out a stable Android 15 update to the Nothing Phone (2) and Phone (2a) ahead of other devices.

Android 15’s rollout has been strange, to say the least, but Nothing is moving along fairly quickly with the update to Nothing OS 3.0, based on the latest Android version. The update launched first in beta on the Nothing Phone (2a) before expanding to the rest of the series over a couple of months.

Now, the first stable updates are rolling out.

Detailed in a forum post, Nothing Phone (2) and Nothing Phone (2a) are now getting their stable Android 15 updates with Nothing OS 3.0. The update is rolling out to all users now, with the staggered rollout reaching everyone by the end of 2024. Nothing Phone (1), Phone (2a) Plus, and CMF Phone 1 will also get stable updates in “the beginning” of 2025.

Enhancements in Nothing OS 3.0 include a new Quick Settings menu, an “Enhanced pop-up view” for apps, improved typography throughout the OS, and “Shared widgets” that share what you see on a friend or family member’s Nothing phone. A Countdown widget is coming “later this month.”

This update offers new ways to stay connected, allowing interaction with friends and family via Shared Widgets* displayed on the newly designed, fully customisable lock screen. Enhanced productivity widgets like the new Countdown Widget** allow users to stay on track, while the AI-powered Smart Drawer enables you to automatically categorise apps into folders, for more efficient organisation and access.
