Everyone wants to copy the iPhone Fold; Honor developing its own ‘wide’ foldable too

The Android world is bracing for the debut of the first foldable from Apple, expected to be the “iPhone Fold.” With Apple using a different form factor, though, it seems everyone wants to chase that, now including Honor.

Where most book-style Android foldables today (Galaxy Z Fold 7, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, etc) have a standard-size phone screen on the front and a square-ish inner display, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to have a wider internal aspect ratio and a smaller external display, akin to the first Pixel Fold and some of Oppo’s older generation foldables.

Samsung is rumored to be adopting this same form factor in an offshoot of the main Fold series later this year, and the company is said to be betting pretty big on it too.

Oppo has also been rumored to try this out, and now a new rumor suggests that Honor will do the same. Huawei Central, citing a leaker on Weibo, reports that Honor is working on its own “wide fold” to compete with the iPhone Fold, with the design set to revive a secondary book-style release. Honor’s “Vs” series offered a more affordable option for a couple of generations, but Honor hasn’t refreshed the lineup since 2024.

Meanwhile, Honor is set to launch its mainstream foldable, the Magic V6, at MWC next month. Stay tuned!
