After several generations using the same wired charging speeds, it sounds like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will finally usher in quicker speeds via new 45W fast charging.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 currently supports 25W charging over USB-C, using the open USB-PD standard. It’s quick enough with the 4,400 mAh battery, but given how often users have to top off that under-sized battery, faster speeds have been a wishlist item for years. That’s especially true given the fact that Samsung’s Galaxy S flagships have been offering 45W charging for a few years now, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra further upgrading that to 60W this year.
New regulatory listings out of China, spotted by SammyGuru, reveal that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will apparently finally make this upgrade, bringing fast charging speeds up to 45W. Two model numbers appear, SM-F9710 and SM-F9760, with the latter being Samsung’s “Wide” foldable.

To say it’s a long-overdue upgrade is an understatement, as Samsung has been using 25W wired charging on nearly every book-style foldable it has released to date, with the one exception being the original Galaxy Fold at 15W. Samsung upgraded to 25W on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 that followed, and the spec has been stuck there ever since.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to deliver a battery capacity upgrade, finally, as the series has also stagnated at 4,400 mAh for several years now, despite massive advancements from the competition.
