The One UI 8.5 changelog for the Galaxy S25 series appeared online, signaling what could be a rollout in the coming days. It includes a ton of features, including Quick Share’s new AirDrop capabilities for the Galaxy S25 series.
The Galaxy S25 has been waiting for its own version of One UI 8.5 since the S26 series launched, touting Samsung’s latest software. The device lineup has only had access to the beta version of the new OS, but nothing as official as the full release. Samsung has clearly shown some restraint in delivering anything but a finished build, if the Galaxy S25’s tenth beta update is any indication.
According to @tarunvats33 on Twitter/X, the One UI 8.5 changelog for the Galaxy S25 lineup is now visible online, and it makes a specific mention of features like AirDrop. The current build looks to be S931BXXU9CZDN, though that’s subject to change at any time.
The changelog details the full spectrum of adjustments and new features, including a “fresh new look” that introduces transparent blur effects across the UI, with floating elements to add a little depth. This is no different than what we’ve seen o the Galaxy S26, but its nice to see these features drip down.
Galaxy AI also gets a big shout with Bixby-powered call screening. A bunch of photo tools fall into that category, too. Samsung notes text-prompted image edits and image generation with photo assist. Perhaps the biggest Galaxy AI addition is the Now Brief expansion, which should add abilities to what’s been a very basic feature.
The changelog also notes that Quick Share’s new AirDrop capability will be a part of the Galaxy S25 update. It was originally brought to the Galaxy S26, and has been a huge upgrade for those who need to share between Galaxy and iPhone. It works shockingly well, and should be no different on the Galaxy S25.
This feature was originally pushed to the beta version, though it leaves users with a pre-release version. The changelog indicates a final version will be available in the new update.
The full changelog is worth a read, but it still may not come to the Galaxy S25 series for some time. This leak does, however, give users a little hope about the upcoming OS update. This comes as Samsung has expanded the One UI 8.5 beta to other devices.
