Following prior leaks, a new report out of Korea reiterates that Samsung’s next Galaxy Buds release will use the clip style of open-ear earbuds, and Xiaomi is following suit too.
Open-ear earbuds have been more popular over the past couple of years, with options from the likes of Nothing, Sony, Bose, and many others producing various form factors and options. Nothing has a design that slips around the back of your ear, while others like Sony’s LinkBuds Clip will “attach” to the side of your ear.
The latter is what Samsung is apparently going to be using.
ETNews reports that Samsung will be launching “Galaxy Buds Able” as a “clip-type” open-ear earbud. The same report said that Xiaomi would be launching its own pair of open-ear earbuds, also using the clip style, which has since happened. “Xiaomi Clip” launched today in China with an open-ear design, 11mm drivers, AI features, and 38-hour battery life (when including the case).

As for Samsung, “Galaxy Buds Able” have leaked before, also hinting at this clip-style design.
A software leak directly showed what the earbuds might look like, and they’re remarkably similar to Xiaomi’s, as well as other brands using this attachment style.
Samsung hasn’t teased this launch, but it seems likely enough that we’ll see them launch in the not-too-distant future. With the Fold 8 launch coming in late July, that seems like a perfect time.
