Google preps letting you customize Gemini voices by Speed, Energy, and more

After releasing two new options after I/O, Google might soon let you customize Gemini voice across four parameters.

About APK Insight: In this “APK Insight” post, we’ve decompiled the latest version of an application that Google uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (called APKs, in the case of Android apps), we’re able to see various lines of code within that hint at possible future features. Keep in mind that Google may or may not ever ship these features, and our interpretation of what they are may be imperfect. We’ll try to enable those that are closer to being finished, however, to show you how they’ll look in case that they do ship. With that in mind, read on.

The Google app 17.41.12 beta today contains strings related to voice customization.

Gemini is readying the ability to customize voices by four characteristics. The sliders for Energy, Formality, and Warmth should offer low, medium, and high increments. Meanwhile, the Speed options will be slow, normal, and fast.

  • <string name=”assistant_robin_mc_voice_selection_customize_header”>Customize</string>

  • <string name=”assistant_robin_mc_voice_selection_energy_label”>Energy</string>
  • <string name=”assistant_robin_mc_voice_selection_formality_label”>Formality</string>
  • <string name=”assistant_robin_mc_voice_selection_speed_label”>Speed</string>
  • <string name=”assistant_robin_mc_voice_selection_warmth_label”>Warmth</string>

The voice you set should appear in Gemini Live and the regular chat experience.

Google has yet to announce this capability, but did share at I/O that regional dialects are coming (timestamped below).

This comes as iOS 27 introduces the ability to customize Siri AI’s Pace and Expressivity. On Apple platforms, the customizations you make also apply to Maps and Safari.
