Glass at Work, Google’s program that aims to put hands-free technology in the workplace by way of awesome third-party software, now has 5 new partners. This may not seem like much, but it brings the number of companies part of the program up to 9—effectively doubling it in size and scope. And with the Glass at Work program being one of the places that Glass seems to actually be a useful device, this is quite notable.
The program, which aims to make a difference by allowing workers to “type on a keyboard” or “flip through a manual” without workers having to free up their hands, has probably been most evident in the countless examples that have spread surrounding the use of Glass in the medical field. But this isn’t the only place that Glass seems to be useful in the workplace, for instance with new partner Interapt which hopes to “enrich customer and employee engagement.”
In fact, today we’re welcoming five new Glass at Work Certified Partners: +AMA Medical, Augmate, Interapt, Pristine and Ubimax. From field services and manufacturing to healthcare and logistics, these partners are developing software that helps businesses be more efficient, saving time and money as a result.
It will definitely be interesting to see what these new partners will continue to do in terms of making Glass a solution for problems plaguing the workplace. Companies like CrowdOptic seem to have done a pretty good job so far. Maybe this will become the focus of Glass down the road?
