OnePlus will launch a better designed flagship phone in late Q2

In an interview with CNET, OnePlus founder Carl Pei revealed that the OnePlus 3 will launch at the end of next quarter. While he was light on actual specifications and features, he did elaborate that the device would have a “captivating” design, like the original OnePlus One.

Besides a better design, no other details were revealed about the OnePlus 3. Pei commented on how the OnePlus 2 had a less interesting design than their first generation device and that he hopes their new device will be able to capture the same feeling.

The US will become a priority market for the company this year. Hinting at a “better buying process” OnePlus might drop their invite system for a more conventional sales model. While being invite only did drum up an air of exclusivity, the company usually drops the invite system after a few months. Additionally, for this device’s launch, their online store will accept credit cards and not just PayPal.

OnePlus will resort to more traditional marketing for the upcoming device, but it will continue to be an unlocked device and will be sold directly by them and not through a carrier.

The OnePlus 3 would be the company’s fourth device after last year’s low-priced OnePlus X. We found the device to be more attractive than the OnePlus 2 and hopefully the company will take more cues from their cheaper priced device for their next flagship.
