These 2016 Nexus renders give the phone(s) some color, but they aren’t realistic [Gallery]

A few days ago we told you about a new render that is supposed to accurately depict the aesthetic of HTC’s upcoming Nexus handsets, and now a Redditor has taken those to the next level with some color. The new renders show the phone in red, white, silver, and black…

Sadly, these are only roughly reflective of the upcoming “Sailfish” and “Marlin” phones set to launch later this year. David Ruddock, who made the original render, says that “the shape of the phone on these “renders” isn’t even right,” and that “none of these colors exist.”

According to the original report, there will be one model with an aluminum finish and a white face, and another with a dark gray finish and a black front. Google is also reportedly considering an “electric blue” version, but that color was sadly not depicted in these fan-made renders.

Check out the renders below:

Specs are very similar between the two devices, with both rumored to sport the latest Qualcomm processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32 or 128GB of storage. There will be a 12MP rear cameras, 8MP front facers, as well as bottom-firing speakers and USB-C ports on both models. The smaller Sailfish will feature a 5-inch 1080p display and a 2,770 mAh battery, while the Marlin has a 5.5-inch 2560×1440 AMOLED display and a 3,450mAH battery.

It seems possible that Google could ditch Nexus branding completely with these phones. We previously reported that this year’s phones will forgo any HTC branding, but these renders show the only logo to be a ‘G’ at the bottom rear of the device’s rear. The two phones sporting a similar design language and specs suggests that Google is going for a more unified offering this year, and the lack of Nexus branding might signal a huge shift in Google’s overall phone strategy.
