Chromecast support added to FOX, FX, & HGTV mobile apps

Google’s Chromecast is picking up a lot of new content today with both FOX and FX adding support to their mobile apps. The updates come on the same day that CBS has added Chromecast support for its All Access service.

In addition to Chromecast support, FOX NOW adds compatibility with new cable companies including smaller providers. Fox highlights access to full episodes of shows including “EMPIRE, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, THE SIMPSONS and more” with new episodes of “WAYWARD PINES (premieres 5/14), ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER? (premieres 5/26) and other summer series” to follow. Older episodes of shows are available to viewers without verifying a cable subscription. For Android users, FOX NOW has been rebuilt for KitKat devices and up.

FXNOW also includes episodes of The Simspons for streaming to your Chromecast, now with the option of their original 4:3 format or 16:9 for your HDTV for the first 20 seasons. FXNOW supports AT&T U-Verse, Bright House, Comcast XFINITY, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and other providers.

FXNOW for Android/iOS and FOX NOW for Android/iOS both include Chromecast support with today’s updates.

Google has also highlighted Chromecast support for HGTV, Pluto TV, and Haystack in a blog post promoting the new channels.
