Google has a new ethernet adapter for the Chromecast, costs $15 shipped

Remember ethernet? It’s that technology that can transmit an Internet signal to devices through a cable — so long as they have an ethernet port, that is. Many devices no longer do, to the dismay of a diminishing minority. But ethernet has its benefits, like not being susceptible to reliability issues when there are two walls between your device and your router and/or modem.

Fortunately, Chromecast users are in luck, as Google is now selling an ethernet adapter for the device.

The adapter, simply called “Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast,” connects to the Chromecast’s microUSB port at one end and at the other includes a power brick with an ethernet port built into it.

“Connect the included USB cable to the Chromecast, run an Ethernet cable from the router to the power supply, and plug in.”

It’s available right now from the Google Store for $15 shipped (more for expedited shipping) and upon order leaves the warehouse “within 1-2 business days.” It appears to only ship to the US, which is unsurprising as many countries use different pronged electrical plugs. Maybe now you’ll be able to enjoy 1080p content frustration-free?
