Lava Pixel V1 is the latest Android One handset for India, sadly lacks 4G support

When Google launched the Android One program, its goal was to bring reliably-updated devices at affordable prices to developing countries. We’ve seen the program make its way to nine countries, most recently Pakistan and Myanmar, and now it’s bringing a new device to India. It’s called the Lava Pixel V1, and it has some decent specs and a modest price tag…

The phone has a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, a 13-megapixel rear camera w/ full HD recording, an 8-megapixel front cam, a 1.3 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, and — sadly — dual-SIM 3G. In the battery front the phone packs a hefty 2650 mAh of capacity, and the device runs the latest version of Android, 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The biggest reason to get this phone over the other affordable offerings in the market is the promised updates to the latest version of Android. Some of the affordable offerings in India and other markets have traditionally had sketchy reliability when it comes to software (hence the Android One program), and Google guarantees you won’t be left behind with these phones.

As you can find on Google’s website, the Lava Pixel V1 is available from several retailers, including FlipKart and The Mobile Store if you want to grab one online. If you would rather head to brick-and-mortar store, Google is offering a retailer locator on its website, too. The device is priced at Rs. 11,349, which is right around $175.
