Runtastic launches new ‘Moment’ wearable w/ companion apps, 10 designs, 6-month battery

Runtastic, the maker of popular fitness apps that was acquired by Adidas earlier this year, is today announcing the launch of its latest companion hardware with the new Runtastic Moment fitness tracking smart watch.

The company already sold hardware to go along with its popular workout tracking apps, including a heart rate monitor, a simplistic wearable called the Runtastic Orbit, and other devices, but this is the first of its hardware resembling a traditional watch form factor.

While the new product is a simplistic fitness tracking device with no digital or touch display, what it will do is track your “Steps & Distance, Active Minutes, Calories Burned, Sleep Cycles and Goals” – and a small indicator on the watch face will let you know how close you are to reaching your goal. It also offers vibration alerts for events such as being inactive for too long.

It is waterproof to 300 feet, stores fitness data for up to a week on its own, and it syncs with the Runtastic Me app that the company originally launched for its Orbit wearable. It also uses a standard watch battery, which means you’ll get an impressive 6 month battery life with no charging required.

The Moment comes in 4 collections: Fun, Basic, Elite, and Classic. In total, the collections offer up 10 unique designs for Moment when considering the various color and band choices. The Fun and Basic designs start at $129 and feature silicon straps and various color choices, while the Elite and Classic models start at $179 and offer a dressier design with silver, gold, and leather accents.

The company made a point of comparing the new Moment wearable to one of its biggest competitors in the space, Withings:

The Runtastic Moment is available to purchase today on the company’s site and it should be hitting other retailers shortly.
