FCC filing reveals Samsung Galaxy View will be almost half meter wide, heading to AT&T

Samsung’s gigantic upcoming tablet has cropped up online more than once in recent times. The most recent rumor indicated that the device, code-named ‘Tahoe’, will be released as the Samsung Galaxy View and sport whopping 18.4-inch display. An FCC filing reveals more about the as-yet-unreleased tablet from Samsung, including its dimensions, some previously unknown features and which carrier it’s likely heading to…

Revealed in the filing, the SM-T677A variant of the Galaxy View will almost certainly be making its way to the US. The clear AT&T logo on the back suggests strongly that this will be sold by #2 carrier, but it’s unclear if it will be an exclusive. What’s more, there appears to be two large speaker grilles (one on each side), indicating that we’ll likely see some powerful stereo audio included.

Perhaps more revealing are the dimensions listed. We already know that — with it having an 18.4-inch display — it would be massive, we didn’t know exactly how big though. The Samsung Galaxy View apparently measures in at 447mm wide and 272mm, easily making it one of the biggest tablets around. Diagonally, from corner to corner, the Galaxy View measures 513mm, that’s just over 20 inches.

Those of you hoping for a huge tablet with flagship performance and a high resolution screen may be disappointed however. Previous rumors indicate that it will feature a 1920 x 1080 resolution display, giving it a pixel density of just under 120ppi. Saying that, it’s rumored to feature an octa-core Exynos processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB storage as well as a 5,700mAh battery.

Even before it hits the market though, it has competition. Alcatel OneTouch teased its own gigantic 17-inch tablet back in September at IFA Berlin. While there are no specific’s on Alcatel XESS tablet’s release date, we’re expecting to hear much more at the beginning of next year.
