Huawei has shipped an impressive 10 million P8 Lite smartphones since launch

Huawei has announced via a short press release that it has shipped more than 10 million P8 Lite units since it launched last Spring. More interestingly, the manufacturer states that the P8 Lite is its first ever smartphone to be more popular internationally that it is in China, showing that its recent focus on the wider global market is well-placed and working effectively.

The P8 Lite was launched as the smaller, more affordable version of the P8, and together, an impressive 16 million P8 series phones have shipped since the launch 9 months ago.

What’s more, the company has officially announced that 2016 has started strongly:

The year got off to a quick start for Huawei, as the company set a new record by shipping over 12 million smartphones in January – a 93 percent increase from Jan 2015. January was also the fourth consecutive month that Huawei shipped over 10 million smartphones. With Huawei’s growing brand awareness and the continuous global growth, consumer interest in Huawei devices has continued to increase significantly.

This success builds on a strong 2015, during which Huawei shipped 108 million smartphones – a 44 percent increase from the previous year – to firmly establish its position as one of the top three global smartphone brands.

Quite clearly, Huawei is one of the companies to watch in 2016. Having secured the deal to manufacture the current Nexus flagship, the 6P, Huawei will undoubtedly see even more success in global markets outside of its home borders.

Huawei is rumored to be planning four versions of the P9 series in 2016, which the company is expected to announce within the weeks following MWC in Barcelona. The manufacturer has already confirmed that it will be at the conference in a few weeks time, although it’s claimed that it won’t launch the P9 series during the event.
