The Moto Z and Moto Z Force are now official but there’s still a lot about these phones that Lenovo didn’t announce on stage. One thing we know from the event, however, is that Verizon will be getting exclusive rights to sell the phone for a few weeks starting this Summer prior to the unlocked launch in September. The “DROID Edition” isn’t too much different from the standard model, but it seems like it will be coming with an extra perk over the standard model.
The best gifts for Android users
According to Motorola’s website, the Moto Z DROID Edition will come with a special offer for storage on Google Photos. When you use the app on the phone, you’ll be able to backup your photos without any level of compression for free. Typicaly that takes up Google Drive storage, but with this deal you’ll have completely unlimited space to use.
Your Moto Z Droid Edition comes with up to two years of free storage at original quality in Google Photos, the smarter way to store photos and videos. They’re automatically backed up, organized, and searchable, so you can find and share photos faster than ever.
This is however a promotional offer. Once you redeem it you’ll only have two years with the unlimited space before it starts eating up your Google Drive storage once again. It’s unclear at this time if unlocked Moto Z devices will get the same offer.
This news comes following a rumor that a similar offer would be coming to this year’s Nexus devices. While that offer was an unlimited for life deal, this news certainly helps corroborate that Google is planning to eventually launch that offer.
