New beta build of Android Nougat for the OnePlus 3 prepares for final build with new optimizations

Ahead of its final release, OnePlus has just rolled out a second beta build of Android Nougat for the OnePlus 3. Oxygen OS Beta 9 takes feedback from the initial Nougat beta to squash bugs and optimize the OS before the final build goes out to all.

In Oxygen OS Beta 9, OnePlus has optimized the UI in certain aspects to better meld OnePlus’ design with the look of Android Nougat, and performance and stability optimizations have also been added to clean things up for the final release. The full changelog follows:

  • Added Expanded Screenshots
  • Shelf Design Optimizations
  • General UI Optimizations
  • DPI Optimizations
  • Battery Performance Optimizations
  • Stability and Performance Optimizations
  • General bug fixes

For those looking to try out this latest build, there are two methods available. First, if you’re already running a beta of Nougat on the OnePlus 3, you’ll be able to download and install the update as an OTA.

If you’re currently running stock, you’ll need to flash the update via the device’s stock recovery. It will not work with a custom recovery such as TWRP. The update is currently available for download directly from OnePlus. The final release of Nougat for the OnePlus 3/3T is still scheduled to land before the year lets out.
