WhatsApp is a popular messaging service worldwide, and it’s also one that tends to stay on top of adding new features. In recent months, the app has added the ability to send GIFs, but now that’s being taken further with integrated Giphy search directly within the app…
The latest beta version of WhatsApp on Android, version 2.17.6, features built-in support for searching Giphy for GIFs. To access it, tap the emoji key in the WhatApp UI, then the GIF button, then tap the search icon to narrow down the results to what you’re looking for.
This isn’t reliant on Google’s Gboard keyboard, nor on Android 7.1’s built-in GIF support. This is a baked in WhatsApp feature that will certainly come in handy for active users of the app.
Further, this latest beta build also brings support for increased limits on the number of media files being sent. In previous versions of the app, users could send 10 files at a time, but now, they can send up to 30 at one time.
The latest version of WhatsApp for Android is available on Google Play following a beta sign up, or you can download the APK here.
