Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress is approaching fast, which only means that leaks are increasingly hard to avoid. Today is the turn of Huawei, which is expected to launch its P10 flagship during the fair; however, 91mobiles (in collaboration with Steve Hemmerstoffer) has managed to give us a pretty comprehensive early look at it…
Albeit laid bare, the P10 Hemmerstoffer (better known with his Twitter handle @OnLeaks) shows us is a bit underwhelming at first sight. The design is similar to its predecessor, with the only thing truly sticking out being the repositioned fingerprint scanner, which now sits on the front’s bottom bezel, likely as a home button.
This makes the device look somewhere in between a OnePlus 3T and an iPhone, from which the P10 borrows the smoothed-out edges and overall profile; save for the back’s top portion, that is. The differently colored strip (don’t pay too much attention to the gold, which is merely representational as far as we know) is still there to remind you that this is a Huawei product.
Inside it, of course, you will find a Leica-branded dual-camera setup, a flash and what is believed to be a laser autofocus sensor. There’s no word on the actual use the second shooter will have, but chances are it will serve similar purposes to the P9‘s, plus, hopefully, something more.
The bottom part hides no surprises: there is a single speaker-grill for audio, a USB-C port and (luckily) a headphone jack, which would have no reason to be absent in a 7.35mm phone. There’s also no display resolution mentioned in the report, but size should stick with 5.2-inch, whereas the bigger P10 Plus could notch things up to 5.5-inches.
Rumored specs mention a few variants: two with 4GB of RAM at 32 and 64GB of internal space, while the 128GB version should sport 6GB of RAM. The SoC is said to be the Kirin 960, while Android Nougat is expected to be available out of the box as the software of choice (with, of course, Huawei’s own interface on top).
