Google launched Circle to Search earlier this year on the Pixel 8 series and Galaxy S24 series, but we haven’t heard much about it coming to other devices. Now, though, Samsung has confirmed that Circle to Search is coming to 2023 Galaxy smartphones next month.
Circle to Search is a useful new way to search on Android. By long-pressing the home button or gesture bar, users can circle or highlight content on screen to get search results about the item or topic. It’s very handy, but only available on a few devices.
But Samsung has announced that, starting in “late March,” Google’s Circle to Search will be coming to select Galaxy devices released in 2023.
These devices include:
- Galaxy S23 series
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy Tab S9 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
There’s no word on when the feature will arrive on even older Galaxy smartphones and tablets, but it’s great news to see it expanding at all, especially after Samsung previously said we could be waiting as long as October for an expansion.
But there’s an obvious question – what about Pixels?
Despite this being a Google feature, it’s still restricted solely to the Pixel 8 series. Even the Pixel Fold, which launched just a few months prior, doesn’t have the feature. Sadly, as of now, we don’t have additional information on the matter. Google has been silent thus far regarding expansions of Circle to Search. Samsung’s “late March” timing, though, opens the door to the feature perhaps making its way to older Pixels is future Feature Drops. For now, though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
