Google TV celebrates the Oscars by surfacing over 30 free movies

To celebrate the Oscars 2024, Google TV is surfacing over 30 free ad-supported movies that have previously been nominated for the prestigious industry award.

Google TV devices now have a new section that highlights a substantial collection of Oscar-nominated movies that you can watch on various services completely free with ads. The section started rolling out on Monday, Google confirmed to 9to5Google.

This is a carefully curated section that expands beyond the regular “Free ad-supported movies” section that has been on Google TV for a little while. It also mimics similar time-sensitive curated lists such the “Cupid’s Choice” option that was showcased before Valentine’s Day earlier this year.

The full list includes popular titles such as Forrest Gump, Rain Man, Pan’s Labyrinth, and many more. As you can see from the list below, the list goes as far back as the early 1940s:
