Google now sells a Pixel Watch 3 screen protector meant to feel ‘just like glass’

If you’re looking for a Pixel Watch 3 screen protector, Google is now selling an option in its official store.

The Pixel Watch design is absolutely gorgeous, but it’s also not immune to damage. As Google continues to use glass instead of the sapphire being used on other watches, the curved surface of the watch is not easy to protect. A typical glass screen protector can’t properly adhere to the display very easily. That’s why the first “official” Pixel Watch 3 screen protector Google started selling was effectively a case from Zagg.

Now, Google has opened sales of another Zagg screen protector for Pixel Watch 3, the “InvisibleShield Fusion” which is made from materials that are claimed to “feel and look just like glass.”

Built to ensure day-to-day impact doesn’t impact your day-to-day, Fusion is made with a flexible polymer hybrid that makes military-strength materials feel and look just like glass.

Of course, this screen protector isn’t glass (even though the listing’s pictures really make it look like it is). It’s a plastic screen protector – specifically “Polyethylene terephthalate” – that can conform to the shape of the Watch’s design.

At $29.99, it’s a pricey option, but one that’s good to have in the Google Store for using with store credit (such as One’s “cashback”).

But there are plenty of other options out there, especially as screen protectors for the 41mm Pixel Watch 3 are the same ones used with prior models. Personally, one of my favorite Pixel Watch screen protectors has been one that uses adhesive and a UV curing process to attach a piece of real glass to the Watch, and it’s even good at hiding scratches. It’s also cheaper than this plastic one at just under $20.

Sadly, there’s no 45mm option available yet, and those are certainly still limited on the third-party market, so it is nice that Google has an option in its store.
