Following yesterday’s Android 15 update, the Instagram app has unexpectedly starting running into some big issues for Pixel users.
After updating to Android 15, some Pixel users on Reddit have noticed performance issues with the app. Content skips around, freezing, and unable to properly interact with Stories. Effectively, the app is almost “unusable,” as the folks over at Android Authority describe it with their affected Pixel 8 Pro.
The issue’s cause is unclear, and it’s also not affecting all users. Even on the same app version, 352.1.0.41.100, my Pixel 9 Pro Fold on Android 15 is working just fine. But there are reports from Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9, and more. One user shared a video of the odd behavior.
Whatever the cause, updating to a newer version of the app seems to fix the problem. Some users have sideloaded v353.0.0.46.90 with success. That update isn’t widely available in the Play Store just yet, though, so proceed with caution if you opt to sideload. Another workaround mentioned, at least to help with Stories, is to tap the “message” box and then go back, which then allows the Story to work properly.
