Adobe Photoshop app is coming to Android ‘soon’ as it debuts on the web and for iPhone

Adobe has just announced new Photoshop apps for the web and for iPhone, and it will also be coming to Android “soon.”

Photoshop is the photo-editing app, to the point where it’s often used as a verb to describe editing pictures. However, the app has traditionally only been available for desktop platforms. That’s now changing, as Adobe has just announced an expansion to iOS and to the web following an initial “mobile” debut on the iPad in 2019.

Starting with the web app, Photoshop will be available without a download using a somewhat simplified experience. This is a part of the new “Photoshop Mobile & Web plan” which will include the ability to sync projects between Photoshop for iPhone and the web app. The plan also adds more features including layer effects, “Quick Actions,” generative AI features, and more. The free version on iPhone will support various edits and be able to save files in PSD format.

Adobe says the following features are available for free:

  • Create unique designs and images by combining, compositing and blending images with core Photoshop tools and features, including precise selection toolsunlimited layers and masks.
  • Remove, recolor or replace part of an image after making a selection using the intuitive Tap Select tool.
  • Brush away spots in seconds with advanced removal tools like the Spot Healing Brush.
  • Speed up and simplify complex edits with powerful generative AI tools that are safe for commercial use, like Generative Fill and Generative Expand.
  • Make advanced edits in Photoshop, then bring your cloud PSDs into Adobe Express and Adobe Fresco and even edit Adobe Lightroom photos in Photoshop on iPhone.
  • Edit with flexibility, using non-destructive unlimited layersselective adjustments and the PSD format.
  • Import and export images while preserving file fidelity and image quality with full-resolution editing.
  • Add, replace and create with a vast library of hundreds of thousands of free Adobe Stock assets.

The “Photoshop Mobile & Web plan” is available for purchase separately, but is included in all Creative Cloud memberships that include access to Photoshop.

Photoshop for iPhone is available for download now via the App Store, but Adobe says it will be coming to Android “soon.”
