Google is adding a number of new features to the Fitbit personal health coach today as the Public Preview of the app redesign expands to free users.
Fitbit’s redesigned app is finally adding nutrition and water logging, with users previously needing to switch back to the old app to see that data. You can now “set a calorie target, log your meals, and track your calorie and water intake.” Additionally, personalized macronutrient ranges are a “more flexible way to manage nutrition.”
Cycle Health will let users log symptoms and periods from the calendar. If you’re a Fitbit Premium subscriber, the Coach will provide personalized cycle insights.
Finally, on the mental wellbeing front, you can “track mindfulness sessions and log your moods for deeper insights.” An updated stress management score called “resilience” will let you “better understand your body’s response to stress.”
The other big update today is that free users can now join the Public Preview to track health, fitness, and sleep with the new app. This updated Fitbit app features a four-tab redesign with Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health. However, Coach, custom fitness plans, and other features require a paid Fitbit Premium subscription.
