Google brings individual hotel price tracking to Search for all your summer travel needs

Google is adding a new tool to Search that should allow users to save a little bit of cash on their upcoming summer vacations.

Starting today, Google users can now track prices for individual hotels, similar to the company’s flight price tracking system that’s been in place for a while. The company’s been building up to this functionality for a while; last year, the company launched the ability to track hotel pricing via a city-wide aggregate. But now, if there’s a specific place you’re looking to stay at — whether for the experience or for reward points — you can receive email alerts for that specific location whenever the price shifts during your planned dates.

Desktop users can use the feature by heading to Google’s hotel searching site, filtering for a listing by date and location, and selecting the price tracking toggle from either the Overview or Prices tab. It’s live right now for signed-in English and Spanish users, but it’s a little hidden. On both tabs, you’ll need to scroll past the full list of options to find a toggle labeled “Track this hotel.” Meanwhile, the “Track all hotels” options still exists on the top of the results sidebar. On mobile, you’ll find the toggle under the Prices tab, similarly listed underneath your various reservation options.

As part of this rollout, Google is also promoting some of the other ways users can plan their summer holidays, including building itineraries in Search’s AI Mode, using Ask Maps to find suggested stops on your travel, and tracking flight details via Live Updates in Wallet.
