Over the weekend, 9to5Google published an early look at Google’s new icons for Workspace apps such as Gmail and Drive and, already, someone has recreated the new look so you can use them early.
Google is gearing up for a new design for its Workspace app icons. The new look ditches the four-color design that many disliked due to the fact that, when placed side-by-side on a homescreen, they weren’t all that easy to differentiate.
The new design goes all-in on the gradient design that we first started seeing with Gemini-enhanced Google apps, like Google itself, Home, Photos, and others. The changes are massive and, if you weren’t a fan of the four-color look, perhaps a major improvement too. Apps like Drive, Meet, and Chat all have their own identity with the new design.
But, as of now, Google has not started rolling these out. It’s likely we’ll see updates land in the not-too-distant future – Google I/O 2026 is mere weeks away – but, in the meantime, you can sort of try them for yourself.
Iconist designer Andreas Storm shared recreations of all of Google’s new icons through Figma, based on our reporting. Another independent designer, “GK,” also did the same thing.

With an account, you can access these files and export icons to use them wherever you’d like. So if you have shortcuts for these apps on platforms like Windows or macOS, you can replace the existing icon with a new one. On Android, you could use a third-party launcher or shortcut creator to replace the icon for Google’s apps, while iOS would allow the same using Siri Shortcuts.
Through Figma, you’ll need to sign into an account, enter the editor, and use the “Export” function to pull each icon – click on the icon name/section on the left sidebar to pull the whole file, and not just its individual layers.
