Google’s Pixelsnap Ring Stand grabbed attention when the magnetic Pixel 10 series launched last year, but I was never a huge fan of using it despite liking the actual concept. That’s where the OhSnap Grip Stand steps into the picture, offering the basic functionality of Google’s Pixelsnap Ring Stand while offering way more functionality and solving the problems found on Google’s accessory.
The idea of Pixelsnap Ring Stand is to have a kickstand on your device that attaches using the Qi2 magnets inside of the phone (or your case). On the whole, it gets that job done, but I wouldn’t say it does it well, especially considering some of the flaws that buyers have noticed in loose screws and scuffs.
Not a bad accessory, but one that could be a lot better.
Last year, a company called “OhSnap” sent me their phone grip which, by their own description, “doesn’t suck.” It’s a PopSocket kind of concept with a little plastic portion that pops out and lets you better hold the device using whatever finger position is most comfortable for you, while letting Qi2 (MagSafe) accessories effectively pass through.
The new OhSnap Grip Stand really brings this to a new level.
This new version adds a proper kickstand to the whole setup. The sturdy metal stand comes out from the border of the Grip Stand and can easily prop up your phone in portrait or landscape orientations. I’ve mainly been testing this out with my Galaxy Z Fold 7 and a magnetic ring (since Samsung seems incapable of understanding why we like built-in magnets), but it works just as well with my Pixel 10, as pictured in this article.
OhSnap’s magnets are very strong, and the backing is a little bit sticky so you don’t have to worry about it sliding around.
The difference in how it holds up the phone is obvious…

…but the real selling point for me is how this one sits better in your hand.
Google’s stand simply isn’t built with this in mind, or at least it’s not at all optimized for it.

OhSnap’s stand has the same pop-out grip as the standard version, which lets you slide your fingers around the grip or stick a finger through it for a secure hold.

Like the standard Grip, the Stand also lets you still use other magnetic accessories without removing it. So you can still pop your phone onto a charger, slap on a battery bank, or mount your wallet. Again, a huge improvement over the Pixelsnap Ring Stand in my book. I did notice that the outward-facing magnets aren’t nearly as strong as the ones built into your phone, which made some chargers (especially the one in my car) a little worrisome, but it works well enough for the most part. The added distance can also add heat during wireless charging, so bear that in mind, especially if you’re trying to use Qi2 25W.
The OhSnap Grip Stand sells for $50, but can often be found for less – it’s 25% off as we’re publishing this as a part of OhSnap’s Father’s Day sale. That’s higher than Google’s $30, but I think it’s well worth it. You can get 15% off with our links below.
