Honor’s wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 rival laughs at Samsung’s tiny battery in leak, Robot Phone in August

Honor is, like everyone else, jumping on the wide foldable idea in the not-too-distant future, but with a battery that makes the Galaxy Z Fold 8 look like a joke.

The idea of a wide foldable originated with Android, but is seeing a resurgence thanks to the “iPhone Fold,” whatever that might end up being called.

And, as such, every big name in foldables is rushing to do the same thing. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 is getting a short and stout redesign with a wider inner display, while other brands are set to follow not too far behind, including Honor, as was previously reported.

Digital Chat Station on Weibo says that Honor’s wide foldable is coming along and has a set goal in mind – to have the largest battery among this returning form factor. Where Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to have a mere 4,800 mAh battery, the wide Honor foldable will apparently hit 7,000 mAh.

The device would also have a 5.5-inch outer display, a 7.6-inch inner display, and a “horizontal runway” camera island – which sounds a lot like Google Pixel’s camera bar – with a 200MP main camera and a periscope zoom lens included.

Other details remain unclear, but if it’s anything like the Honor Magic V6, it’s probably going to be pretty solid.

Meanwhile, the same leaker added that Honor’s Robot Phone – the one with a crazy gimbal camera – will be launching in August.

Honor previously confirmed a launch before the end of September 2026, but a specific timeline hadn’t been mentioned.

The Robot Phone is set to debut Honor’s partnership for imaging with ARRI, while also delivering on this new form factor that, on top of content capture, has some AI use cases as the company has been teasing at trade shows over the past year.
