Nintendo is fully shutting down Mario Kart Tour in September, no offline version coming

Mario Kart Tour was perhaps the biggest mobile game release in Nintendo’s collection but, as the company shifts away from mobile, the game is shutting down in September, and it’ll be gone permanently.

Mario Kart Tour first made its debut in 2019, with Nintendo having ended content updates in 2023. Now, the game is fully shutting down.

Announced on social media and through a handful of support pages, Nintendo has confirmed that Mario Kart Tour will fully shut down on the evening of September 29. That’s not only the end of content or online multiplayer – the game is just completely going away.

Nintendo directly says it has no plans for an offline version of the game, so this is the end.

Those who were subscribed to the game’s “Gold Pass” won’t be billed anymore, and everyone playing the game will get those benefits available for free starting on August 4. Rubies can no longer be purchased as of this week.

RIP Mario Kart Tour!
