Google Health has fixed the outage that broke sync for Fitbit & Pixel Watch owners [U]

A widespread outage on July 15 has broken device sync for “all” Google Health users.

Update 7/16: Google has fixed this issue, which ran for around 7 hours on Wednesday. The company didn’t offer any further details on what caused the outage.

If you woke up this morning to check your Google Health app for sleep stats or anything else, you might have been greeted by an error or failure to load. That’s because, as of roughly 5:41am PT this morning, Google Health is suffering from a widespread outage that breaks device sync.

Currently there is an outage affecting the Sync functionality for all Google Health users.

I was able to use the workout function on my Pixel Watch 4 this morning but none of the stats registered. I woke up with over 1800 steps gifted to me on the watch but nothing I've done in reality is displaying. I hope they're right about the data still being there once sync is fixed. Sync is definitely not back up for me. Still gives error code 1001.

The cause of the problem isn’t known at this time, but users have noticed the issue which affects Fitbit and Pixel Watch devices.

The good news here is that, thanks to local storage, you probably won’t miss out on any actual data tracking. Once device sync is back up and running, Google Health should be able to pull the data from the outage period from your device and fill in the gaps. Again, we say “should” and “probably” here, as there’s no guarantee.
