Motorola teases wide Razr Fold as its ‘next move’ in response to iPhone Duo debut

Apple’s iPhone Duo announcement has triggered a couple of companies, and it’s apparently warranted at least one teaser for even more foldables. This one seems to be a wide version of the Motorola Razr Fold.

After years of watching manufacturers improve on the concept of a foldable phone, Apple has a genuine answer – the iPhone Duo. In a lot of respects, it looks like the original Pixel Fold. But software seems to be a heavy selling point, with plenty of tricks and touches that sell the idea of an iOS-powered foldable.

The fallout has been interesting. Samsung’s team took to Twitter/X to acknowledge Apple’s release, with a slew of posts that almost seem clingy. They didn’t have anything solid to offer, though. But Motorola did.

The mobile company responsible for the Razr of years past and the Razr foldables current posted a snarky little video on Instagram in response to the iPhone Duo’s existence. A series of shots shows Razr phones spanning back a few generations snapping shut. The iconic pink Motorola Razr flip phone starts it off. The last recognizable phone in the video is a Motorola Razr Fold, which launched earlier this year.

Right after that, the video ends with a blacked-out foldable that resembles the iPhone Duo’s short and stout nature. It’s not Apple’s new release, but it’s possible it could be a wide Razr Fold from Motorola. In the post, Motorola calls it its “next move,” which seems telling enough.

If our eyes can be trusted, there are a couple of details to pick out for what could be a wide Motorola Razr Fold. The camera bar spans the entire width of the phone’s rear panel. A button can also be seen on the top left of the inner display view. The iPhone Duo has two volume rockers on the right side.

It’s just a silhouette, and those little details could prove to be completely off. But Motorola isn’t ready to say what the device is, or when it will launch. It simply wants users to know it exists since the hype for short and wide foldables seems to be growing, thanks to Samsung and now Apple.
