Nvidia says Google’s new Gemini-infused laptops are slated to get GeForce Now support before the year is up, which is perfect because Googlebooks don’t exactly pack a ton of power.
The entire Googlebook line was officially announced on September 21, spanning across Acer, Dell, ASUS, HP, and Lenovo. Each has its own draw, but they share the same baseline 16GB of RAM, up to 32GB. Each is equipped with a touchscreen and made from “premium materials,” and they genuinely look great. What qualifies as “premium” ranges from aluminum to carbon fiber. Of course, each has the instantly iconic Glowbar somewhere on the cover, flashing when the laptop is opened or closed.
In essence, Googlebooks run Android, for better or worse. Googlebook OS is almost a parallel operating system, but it and mobile Android go hand-in-hand by design. By nature, that means Google didn’t intend to pack these with discrete graphics cards that could power most games. But that’s why GeForce Now exists, right?
Nvidia announced that GeForce Now would be coming to Googlebooks in an official capacity before the year is up. The original statement only specifies it will arrive “later this year,” which leaves a gap of around three months.
That doesn’t mean GeForce Now won’t work with Googlebooks when they become available in October. Google Chrome and even Firefox now support GeForce Now natively through the browser. That means logging into the game streaming website will present a similar experience to a fully dedicated Googlebook app.
Still, an app will likely be a better experience tailored to the hardware outfit Google and its partners pack into the new laptops.
This was expected for a couple of reasons. Google has partnered with Nvidia in the past, and Chromebooks were one of the main targets for GeForce Now in the early days. On top of that, when Googlebooks were first shown off, the majority of titles seen were via GeForce Now and not running on native hardware.
GeForce Now also announced today that a slew of new titles are getting support this week:

- Stick It to the Stickman
- CONTROL Resonant
- Wild West Pioneers
- DragonSword: Awakening
- Everything Is Crab
- LEGO Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight
- Over The Top: WWI
- Roadside Research
