Motorola’s wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 competitor might be very tiny and called ‘Razr Flex’

According to a new leak, Motorola’s upcoming entry in the wide, book-style foldable space may be called “Razr Flex” and pack some very familiar specs.

Specs for Motorola’s wide foldable were shared by Android Headlines alongside a possible name for the device – “Razr Flex.” That’s apparently the name being used internally around the device, so it’s unclear if that would be used as a consumer-facing name. The codename is “Parker,” the report claims.

Much more interesting are the details around the side of this foldable, which shares the same general form factor as Samsung’s smash hit Galaxy Z Fold 8, just in a much smaller footprint. Apparently, the outer display is just 4.97-inches in size – the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is 5.5-inches – while the inner display is less than 7-inches across. Very tiny by modern phone standards, even in this new form factor.

It’s important to stress just how much smaller this is compared to other wide foldables. iPhone Duo is thicker and heavier than Samsung’s phone, but has roughly the same screen sizes. The closest comparison is the Xiaomi 18 Fold, which has a 5.38-inch outer display, but even that still has a 7.58-inch inner panel.

The specs are otherwise pretty familiar to the full-size Razr Fold that launched earlier this year.

Concept renders were also shared, but they’re explicitly not based on, well, anything except sketches and Motorola’s general design language – take them not just with a grain of salt, but maybe a whole container.

The “Razr Flex” is said to be launching this year with a “mid-December” debut mentioned.
