Google Maps now allows Local Guides to create lists of saved places

Google Maps is a service we all use almost daily, but a lot of work goes into making it as great as it is. Lately, Google has been pushing users into its Local Guides program which lets them “level up” by writing reviews, uploading pictures, and adding/editing places on Maps. To help those users better do those tasks, the company has today added the ability to sort saved places into lists within the mobile app.

This new functionality is available for anyone with Local Guide Level 4 and up and allows them to sort places into groups such as “Favorites”, “Want to go,” or any custom list they want to create. For now, the feature is only available on Android, but Google does say it’s coming to desktop and iOS users soon.

To create a new list of places, users on Android can head into Google Maps, access a place, tap on the name or address, and save it to a pre-made or custom list. To later access those, users can go into the menu, find the “Your places” section, and see all of the lists they’ve created.

Local Guides Level 4+ are able to create and easily access simple lists of places in the Google Maps for mobile Android* app. Lists help you organize your saved places ★ into groups like Favorites, Want to go, and your own custom lists.

For now this functionality is limited only to Local Guides, although we’re really hoping Google will extend it to all users soon as this could be really useful for navigating around town and keeping track of great places to go.
