Honor Magic 7 and 7 Pro debut in China with Snapdragon 8 Elite, will launch globally

The Honor Magic 6 Pro was one of the best Android phones of 2024, and its sequel, the Magic 7 Pro, was just announced in China ahead of a global launch in the future.

Honor Magic 7 and Magic 7 Pro aren’t all that different from their predecessors, offering a similar design and two areas of focus – the camera, and AI.

Both devices are powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite, with the Magic 7 Pro having the better overall package to offer. The device has a 6.8-inch FHD+ display with HDR brightness that peaks at 5,000 nits. It has 12GB of RAM at minimum, up to 1TB of storage, and a huge 5,850 mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

The camera setup on Magic 7 Pro consists of 50MP sensors used for the main and ultrawide shooters, and a 200MP camera (upgraded from 180MP) for the telephoto lens. Optical zoom is just 3x, but the added resolution can stretch digital zoom out to 100x.

Meanwhile, the base Magic 7 has a slightly smaller 6.78-inch display of the same brightness, 12GB of RAM, and drops the camera setup down to a trio of 50MP sensors, and the battery is down to 5,650 mAh. It’s a remarkably similar overall package, though the other big difference is in the biometrics. Both devices are equipped with under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensors – upgraded from the optical sensor used in the previous generation – but the Pro also has a 3D depth camera setup for proper facial recognition that works even in the dark.

Both devices run Android 15 out of the box with Magic OS 9.0, and the hardware is IP68/IP69 certified.

Magic 7 Pro will be available in “Moon Shadow Gray,” “Sky Blue,” “Snowy White,” and “Velvet Black.” Magic 7 gets all of the same options, but with the addition of “Morning Glow Gold.”

Honor has confirmed that the Magic 7 series will see a global debut, but there’s no word on timing just yet. Earlier this year, Magic 6 Pro hit the global stage at MWC in March, and it’s entirely likely we’ll see similar timing next year.
