Rolling out now, the Instagram app has added support for watching Reels on your TV using Google Cast.
Announced earlier this week alongside expanded app availability on Samsung TVs, Instagram is rolling out support for Google Cast for Reels on any compatible TV, no additional apps needed. This means that Chromecast devices, TVs with Cast built in (such as Vizio, LG, and others), and more can now play Reels. Google TV and Android TV devices won’t need to install and/or pair an app either – Instagram’s TV app landed on Google TV earlier this year.
Meta says:
Cast Reels from your phone: Found something worth sharing? Send Reels directly from your phone to your TV in just a few taps. Casting is available today on Google TV and Fire TV, including videos from your Saved tab, making it easier to bring your favorite finds to the group.
We’re seeing the functionality live on multiple Instagram accounts on Android as of today. The Cast icon appears in the top right corner, though it does seem to be an account-based rollout not available to everyone just yet.

This comes as Instagram is testing a “dedicated home” for horizontal content that can actually take advantage of a TV’s bigger screen.
