The end is here. OnePlus has officially announced that it is shutting down operations in the US and Europe and has detailed what’s happening next.
In a post on its community forums this morning, OnePlus has officially confirmed that it will “conclude new product rollouts in Europe and North America.” In other words, it’s shutting down operations in these regions going forward.
Today, our hearts are undoubtedly heavy and mixed with emotion. As part of the proactive global strategy adjustment, OnePlus has decided to conclude new product rollouts in Europe and North America.
A notice has appeared informing customers of this change on the OnePlus Store, while products such as OnePlus 15 remain available for purchase. Presumably, products will sell out soon and not be restocked under the operational changes.
In Europe, OnePlus will be replaced on the market by Oppo, but the US has no such replacement on deck. Oppo as a whole is effectively exiting the US with this change.
What does this all mean for you as a OnePlus user?
OnePlus explains that software support will not end, but devices will be pushed from OxygenOS to ColorOS starting with Android 17. OS and security updates will continue as promised. Warranty and repair services will also remain in place. So, if you’re still using a OnePlus product, it’s business as usual for now. The only thing changing is that your next big software update will mark the end of OxygenOS – not that it was all that different from ColorOS anyway.
As for India, OnePlus says that the region “continues to be one of OnePlus’ most important markets,” and that there is “unwavering” support.
Reliable reporting disagrees, with OnePlus reportedly set to wind down operations in India early next year. OnePlus says that “our actions speak louder than speculation,” pointing to recent and upcoming product launches in India. Meanwhile, the OxygenOS shutdown will affect India as well, with devices moving over to ColorOS.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
