Nougat arriving on Shield Tablets in coming weeks, new Shield TV picks up minor update

It has been months since we have heard anything official from Nvidia when it comes to their two gaming tablets. Now, Nvidia has confirmed on Google+ that Nougat should be arriving for the Shield Tablet and Tablet K1 in the coming weeks…

While the Shield Hub’s post on G+ wasn’t specifically about the tablets receiving an update, the account did respond to customer comments. When responding to a user who asked if the K1 tablet would get updated, the Shield Hub account stated, “SHIELD Tablet will be getting an update in a few weeks.” While this isn’t the most definitive answer as far as when the upgrade to Nougat will take place, at least we are finally getting word that Nvidia hasn’t abandoned the Shield tablets.

In related news, Nvidia is rolling out the “Experience Upgrade 5.0.1” update to the new Shield TV, which was unveiled at CES.  The update mainly just fixes a bug which caused the Shield Remote to stop responding to button presses, but also brings with it other performance enhancements. Once the upgrade is installed on your Shield TV, there should be another update for your accessories that squashes the remote bug.

While we had previously been led to believe that the 2015 model of the Shield TV would soon receive Android 7.0, we found out shortly after that we would have to wait a little bit longer.
