Google Camera app gets remote shutter for Android Wear & more in latest update

Google has just updated its Camera app to version 2.3 and with it comes the ability for users to snap pictures remotely using only their Android Wear smartwatch.

As first noted by AndroidPolice, once users open the updated app on their Android device, a connected Android Wear smartwatch will automatically present them with a shutter button that includes a countdown. Android Wear users will also be able to preview the shot they take on their wrist after snapping the photo.

The app also gets a less exciting but still welcomed redesigned UI for panorama mode in the app. There are links to the APK download here, but you should expect the update to roll out to all through Google Play shortly.

As the new Android Wear-powered LG G Watch begins shipping from Google Play in the US and about to hit AT&T on July 11th, LG announced yesterday that the device is now available worldwide. The device, which sells for $230 here in the US, so far only has competition from one other Android Wear device already available to consumers: Samsung’s Gear Live, which also just recently started shipping in the US from Google Play. You can check out our video comparison of the two new Android Wear devices here.
