New NPR One app curates stories and creates a personalized stream of content

NPR today released a new app for Android to the Google Play Store. The app, called NPR One, curates all public radio stations in the United States and creates a stream of stories you’ll want to listen to. NPR says that it’s “public radio made personal.

The NPR One app allows you to listen to a live stream from any NPR station in the country and easily switch between them. You can mark a topic as interesting and the app will work to find more like it that you will enjoy. Of course, you still have play, pause, and rewind buttons, as well. The entire premise of the app is to automatically find stories and topics that will interest you.

NPR One starts with the latest headlines then moves to a flow of stories that matter. All thoughtfully curated by hand, every day. Just pop in your ear buds, tap your phone and NPR One starts flowing. But now if you want to pause, skip ahead, rewind or share a story with friends, you can do that too. All from a simple app. Though your stream is personalized to deliver the stories you want, you’ll still hear the top news of the day and stories you had no idea would captivate you.
