Specs for HTC’s upcoming ‘Hima’ flagship leak out as phone begins carrier testing

HTC released its One (M8) flagship in March of this year, so we’re probably only a few months away from the Taiwanese company showing what it has up its sleeve for the next generation (being called the “M9” by some). Today, thanks to consistent leaker @upleaks, we’re being given an idea of what kind of power the smartphone is going to pack. And according to upleaks at least, the “M9” doesn’t exist; this particular phone is being codenamed “Hima.”

According to a few tweets (embedded below), the phone is going to have a 5-inch 1080p display, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 13-megapixel (or a 4-megapixel “UltraPixel”) front-facing camera. Most agree that the phone will likely sport Snapdragon’s next-generation 810 processor, with upleaks suggesting that it will have 8 cores: 4 clocked at 2 GHz, and 4 clocked at 1.5 GHz. The phone will supposedly sport 3 GB of RAM, carry support for VoLTE/CA/LTE Cat.6, and will have a 2,840 mAh battery.

The phone, as will likely be the case with all of next year’s flagships, will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop. But for HTC in particular, this is going to mean that Sense, the company’s skinned version of the OS, will be getting a version bump to 7.0.

As is expected, the phone is likely going to be launching sometime in March of 2015, and will be coming to all major carriers in the U.S. The phone is already being tested by carriers, in fact, so this is probably only the first of many leaks to come in the next few months. Upleaks expects the announcement to happen at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and says that HTC will be announcing some more Desire phones at the event as well. Other companies, like Samsung and LG, are also expected to make some bigger announcements at some point during the same week.
