Pebble hasn’t introduced new hardware (besides some pretty new colors) since it launched the Pebble Steel in January of last year, but now it appears that the company is about to introduce what’s next in the pipeline. Rather than just iterating on the device’s current hardware with a black-and-white epaper display, we’re hearing the next Pebble might be getting a brand new color display and an overall design that’s a bit thinner…

However, multiple sources tell us that a major update to both the Pebble’s hardware and software have been in the works and that these changes could be ready to debut next week. The new watch is said to (finally) gain a slightly wider, color, e-paper-like display that will be encased in an overall thinner design. The screen will still not be touch like the Apple Watch…
The announcement is being teased with a countdown on Pebble’s website, which would set it scheduled for Tuesday of next week. Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky revealed to The Verge in an interview earlier this month that the company definitely plans to introduce new products this year based on a radically new software platform, so maybe this announcement will be the first time we hear about these developments.
Pebble in December announced that its smartwatch was going to support Android Wear actionable notifications, and just a few days ago that major software update was released to the masses.
